History
Taman Siswa is an educational institution founded by Ki Hadjar Dewantara on July 3, 1922 in Yogyakarta. The school is now centered in the Ibu Pawiyatan (Majelis Luhur) hall on Jalan Taman Siswa, Yogyakarta, and has 129 branch schools in various cities throughout Indonesia.

Color Meaning of Taman Siswa Coat of Arms
The golden yellow color symbolizes light, brilliance, lofty ideals. While green symbolizes hope, always developing in the field of education. Overall, the Taman Siswa emblem means “Taman Siswa's struggle to foster students and society creatively and dynamically in realizing an orderly society of peace and happy greetings”.
Taman Siswa has spread to all cities in Indonesia, including Batam city which was established in 1997. The Batam branch of Perguruan Taman Siswa was founded by Ki Titus Wahyu Diatmiko, S.T, which started from the level of Taman Indria (Kindergarten), Taman Muda (Elementary School) and Taman Dewasa (Junior High School).
